Background
Situation
In 2020, Aldi Denmark (Aldi) implemented a Workforce Management System (WFM) system to optimize productivity and efficiency in the company's allocation of employees and resources.
Challenge
Aldi Denmark's newly implemented WFM system was causing many problems for both users and managers. The company therefore wanted a review of the system.
Purpose
A-2 was initially called in to conduct a review of the previous WFM system. Based on the analysis and recommendations, it was decided that Aldi should have chosen a new WFM solution.
Approach & Results
Initially, A-2 mobilized Aldi's project management and project team to secure the project until go-live. In addition, steering committee meetings were established to ensure resources and decision-making capacity, as well as to ensure a close dialog with the supplier. A-2 prepared plans for change, communication, governance and training, including planning of training courses. Finally, A-2 prepared a post-implementation questionnaire to assess the baseline for measuring impact and satisfaction with the solution. The WFM solution was then optimized
New and satisfying WFM solution after 12 weeks
Aldi's new WFM solution was ready for use after only 12 weeks, before the next planning cycle, and under budget. Users and managers expressed great satisfaction with the new solution and have gained better overview, transparency and confidence in the solution. Aldi is left with an implemented solution with few outstanding issues and tasks. The business case shows that Aldi saves several FTEs per year.
