Background
Situation
PFA is Denmark's largest pension company and manages investment funds worth over DKK 600 billion and has around 1200 employees. It is essential for the company's operations that procurement processes are optimized in order to achieve optimal value creation. Over the years, A-2 has assisted PFA with transformations in several business areas such as healthcare, real estate investments, asset management and IT.
Challenge
PFA has had challenges regarding their procurement processes and has also needed to optimize risk management of processes in daily operations.
Purpose
The purpose of the project was to advise PFA on the end-to-end procurement process and the implementation of a new operational design. A-2 acted as a consistent partner from the first stage of the process to the implementation in practice and thus played a central role in creating coherence between strategy and practice.
Approach & Results
A-2 as project manager, input provider and sparring partner, facilitator
In close collaboration with PFA's management team, A-2 has carried out tasks in the various business areas and in the purchasing function and acted as a strategic supplier. In addition, A-2 has acted as a trainer, advisory service and sparring partner for PFA and facilitator between PFA and the supplier in order to optimize cooperation.
Complete procurement transformation
A-2 has helped PFA with a complete procurement transformation, including advising on the end-to-end procurement process and implementing a new operational design. The procurement transformation has resulted in over 50 projects being consolidated into one program. By implementing contract management disciplines, lifecycles, service processes and operational management concepts, A-2 has ensured smooth implementations.
Optimizing risk management and operations
A-2 has assisted PFA with a major optimization of their operational processes by mapping the entire process landscape. A-2 assisted PFA in managing and implementing new management structures to ensure operational and service fulfillment. A-2 established risk management processes around each business area to mitigate risks in daily operations. In addition, A-2 supported PFA in implementing new cooperation contracts with suppliers to meet service requirements.
